what an offer 7.3% on loans but dont be fooled!!!!! on a joint application i made for for re-finance with a income of 30,000 + i was led into the trap that tesco where there to help. After filling the maze of questions in on the internet i was accepted in principle,as with many people we all have credit cards and overdrafts which were indicated on the application and all the loan was for re-finance,i eventually had a reply from tescos 1 week later saying my application was accepted in principle, i recieved credit aggrements and bank mandate and even the date of first repayment, which ... more
I needed some money - I thought the best thing to do for me was to consolidate anything I owed, and just have one amount to pay each month. I was not really thinking of doing a loan until I was in Tesco and i happened to see one of their loan leaflets- its quite distinctive and has a shopping trolley on the front. Anyway, the leaflet said it was even cheaoer to apply on line and ever one for getting on line and exlporing, I gave it a go. SIgning on to the Tesco websie is easy. Tesco.com will find you on the site. Click on personal finance, and a full product range will come up,Education Information. which ... more
About eighteen months ago my husband and I decided to try and clear off all our credit card debt. After speaking to our financial advisor we were advised to try and get a conciliation loan with a low rate of interest. As I already had a Tesco Visa card I decided to contact them and find out if they were prepared to offer us a loan. We contacted them by telephone on the number given on the back of the Visa card itself, 08456 040 409, and were given a menu to select options from. As there were only a couple of options it was easy to make the right choice. Our call was answered quickly and we ... more
14 months ago I decided I would like a new car so I was looking around for loans. Banks were all about 14% APR +, and the lowest I could find was 10.2% APR from Paramount Bank. This was however until I was recomended to Tesco. Their APR was and still is 8.9% APR. What a difference! (Please note: APR figures above are based on a 5000 loan). I therefore decided to apply for a Tesco loan - and did it all over the internet. I basically filled in all my details (names, address, work info, etc) and pressed submit! It then gave you confirmation that an advisor will be in contact with a decision. I ... more
All I can really say is that, if you are looking for a loan to buy a car, consolidate existing loans, have a holiday etc, info on insurance Tesco is definately one of the ones you should seriously consider. The APR they currently have is 9%, which is fixed for your chosen term, and youll find that they are quite non-biased as to the purpose for which you need the funds. Their Customer service is excellent and you will get an agreement in principal there and then. They will then send you out the work, within a few days, which youll obviously need to check over and sign. You will also need to send them a ... more
Tesco Personal Finance is absolutely rubbish!! Stay away if you want any access to your money in so called bank. After opening an internet saver account 6 weeks after still no access to our money and customer service is non existent. Beware and be warned, good rates yes but no access. They open an account for you take your money then make it as difficult as possible to access it. Had our money for 6 weeks now ans still we cannot get it after writing to them, speaking to them, when you can get through that is. Stay away,Online Education. be warned
Having decided that we were to extend our Kitchen also came also the decision of MONEY!! We needed to borrow some money so I had a scout around the Net and came across a few companies that would allow you to use their Online Calculator. This is quite easy to use as you key in either the amount you want to borrow and the amount of years/months or the amount you can afford per month and they calculate the rest for you. I had wittled them down to Tesco, Barclays, Halix and HSBC (the two banks as they are baks that we currently deal with and Halix as we have a mortgage, insurances etc with ... more

We applied for a 7.4%25 loan over 10 years. We phoned their loan progress number as we had a time limit to reserve our purchase, and was told our application had sucessfully been accepted. Paperwork came through 5days later and the loan rate had gone upto 9%25 over 7 years 80 dearer a month. We complained wed been mislead and they said it states rates may vary on application. I understood that and that would have been ir enough had we been informed wed been accepted at a different rate / repayment period. We also said we couldnt afford the monthly repayment under the new terms and the ... more

Why the other side? Well, I used to work for this here company as a Personal Finance Advisor (thats one of those jumped up titles which isnt quite as good as it sounds). So, I have an insiders view of how it works and how well it works too. ------ Tesco Personal Finance is a relatively new company, offering a range of financial services from loans, to credit cards, and all manners of insurance. I worked in the loans division, taking potential customers through loan applications, answering questions, and also dealing with existing customers, whether it be changing their payment dates or ... more

I recently applied for a home improvement loan with Tesco Personal Finance. I gave all my details over the phone i.e incomings and outgoings and was given a yes in principle at a good rate after they had checked my credit file and credit score. Then the waiting started .... It took a week for the work to arrive, I was expecting a first class service. I had to send in original payslips and three months bank statements along with the credit agreement. I paid for it to be returned Special Delivery to ensure a speedy service. The details say you then have to wait 48 hours for a final decision ... more
